Nominations are invited for Oxford UCU Committee and associated posts given below, to take office on 1st September 2026 and serve until 31st August 2027. The new Committee will be announced at the Branch AGM taking place at 1 pm on Tuesday 23rd June 2026.

We will be holding an informal information session where members can speak with current Committee members about the various Committee, Rep and Caseworker roles, and about how they can get more involved with the branch. More information on this will follow shortly but if you wish to have an informal chat before then, please get in touch by e-mailing ucu@ox.ac.uk.

Please do not let lack of experience deter you from becoming more active in the branch and joining your colleagues on the Committee. You will be fully supported and there are also a range of UCU training courses available.

Nominations from more than one member to make a post a job-share position (other than the UCU Congress Delegate posts) are welcome.

Officer posts:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Honorary Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Academic-Related Professional Staff Officer
  • Anti-Casualisation Officer
  • Campaigns Officer
  • Casework Officer
  • Communications Officer
  • Environment Officer
  • Equality Officer
  • Health & Safety Officer

UCU Congress Delegate post-holders can also attend any UCU HE Sector Conferences called within their year of office, without any further selection process being required, but if they are unavailable for either Congress or an HE Sector Conference then under branch rules a substitute can be elected at either a quorate branch meeting or a quorate Committee meeting.

If there is only one eligible candidate for any Officer vacancy then that candidate will be declared elected. If more than one nomination is received for any Officer post (with the exception of job-share nominations) then an electronic ballot will take place, overseen by our UCU Regional Official and administered by UCU Head Office, and the candidates will be asked to provide a short election statement.

Should a ballot be required for any of the other posts then this will be held by a vote at the AGM on 23rd June 2026. A nomination form (attached) should be completed and sent by the nominee to ucu@ox.ac.uk as an e-mail attachment, with the proposer and seconder being copied into the e-mail as confirmation that they are proposing and seconding the nomination. There is no requirement to physically sign the form.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is midnight on Monday 8th June 2026.
